I see great potential for firms to take benefit from Co-operation. Equity strategic alliance between Renault and Nissan gs great potential to break into top 3 slot, right now the together they are number 4 in car sales worldwide. One of the example of co-operation is Renault's low cost product Logan which is manufactured at 7 facilities across world now will be sold under brand name of Nissan in few markets and Renault in rest of markets. they will also share components like engines, differntial and manual transmission so as to have range of component available to each, which will enhance their flexibility. In India Renault has formed alliance with Mahindra & mahindra. to use their facility to produce Logan.The Renault and Nissan entity is also in talk with Bajaj's in India to manufacturer ultra low cost vehicle to compete with Tata's low cost car. The entity can take benefit of local partners distribution network, supply chain and they can offer expertise in designing the vehicle.
